Not sure if I’m getting the OP’s meaning, but I think they meant a situation like this:
- Activate Magic Citations (MC)
- Select 3 papers in the MC dialog, say: Chandler 2003, Costantini 2010, Kamihara 2014.
- In-text citations appear in Manuscripts in the following order: Chandler 2003, Kamihara 2014, Costantini 2010.
As you may notice, they’re not in alphabetical nor chronological order, and they are not in the same order I’ve chosen when selecting them in MC.
As far as I know, citation styles do not dictate the order in which single citations should appear in a “citation cluster.” Rather, style affects the order in which the reference list is redacted (order of in-text citation vs. alphabetical, in general.)
Ideally, it would be more consistent to have Manuscripts insert citations in the order they’ve been selected in the MC dialogs, if possible.
