I'm having a couple of issues with citations (besides the copy/paste problems I've flagged in another post).
First off, if I've added a citation using magic citations, what is the workflow for adding future versions of the same citation? Is the expectation that we will then use the 'insert... citation' menu option, or can we go on using magic citations to reinsert the same reference? This isn't clear.
What I am finding is that If the same reference is added twice from magic citations. This initially doesn't seem to cause issues - the reference will only occur once in the bibliography. All good. However, for some reason, sometimes multiple versions of the same manuscript wind up showing up in the list of citations shown at the 'insert...citation' dialogue. Furthermore, once this is the case, editing one reference in the text does not change the other (e.g. updating the year or title caps).
I'm also finding that references that are subsequently deleted from the text aren't removed form the list of citations in the 'insert...citations' dialogue. This is confusing and may reflect the fact that when Manuscripts crashes (often) it leaves junk markup information behind?
Finally, I find the order of references in the 'insert...citation' dialogue confusing. Surely better to list them by alphabetical order of the authors (given that's what we imagine we'd be typing anyway [currently they're ordered alphabetically by title]).
I look forward to your feedback/clarification and the associated bug(s) being addressed.
