This behaviour is now fixed for the 1,1,1 – thanks for reporting it! The 1.1.1 version should enter beta later tonight.
More generally, thank you again for all your feedback. We continue to deliver updates that respond to it. We continue to average a 92–94% approval rating for the app, a rating that hovers between 3.5 – 4-stars based on the metrics we ask on app launch from our users, and indeed we have already supported the publication of plenty of finished manuscripts during the months after 1.0. It is our intention to more systematically promote such manuscripts soon as we launch into our more journal submission part of our plans. At any case, we remain fully committed to continuing on the track we are on now of improving stability and responding to feedback quickly, have no intention of firing 90% of us two developers who designed and built the product for you. You'll instead continue to see incremental updates from us, improving the ability of the app to serve writing more and more kinds of manuscripts and indeed improving on the all-too-important stability which we perfectly understand is hit in certain common scenarios still.
Speaking of which, the 1.1.1 update fixes a number of reported crashes, and again for 1.1.0 we can see that we are in statistical terms a big improvement over what was there before. Statistics do not equate to an improved experience for all equally though, as I am sure you appreciate, and our work on improving on that is certainly not done. Thanks very much for taking the time to write to us, we continue to be interested of all views regarding the app, that is why we made a fully public forum available.
Regarding what's essential, why we build new features vs what's core, a writing tool has a huge variety of different uses: what is essential for one of us is redundant for someone else. We of course look for patterns in that on this forum and via the private support discussions we have with our users, and choose what we add and polish based on those. For instance that is why the author metadata copying is improved in this release: a number of people have requested supporting the sharing of author records between manuscripts, because it gets tedious to enter that info again when you are writing subsequent manuscripts after having written one.
